Expired Positive + Effective Communication Skills

April 13 – April 20, 2026 (Mondays); 10:00am – 12:00pm MST

In this 2-class series, PARENTS and CAREGIVERS learn and practice effective communication skills promoting healthy parent-child relationships to:

  • Help young children learn to recognize and communicate their needs, feel heard and listened to – and encourage this role modelling in the parent.
  • Teach and help young children recognize, name and share their feelings by using active listening skills. Understand how active listening supports problem-solving.
  • Use I-MESSAGES to communicate how a child’s behaviours impact us in both positive and challenging ways, INSTEAD of YOU-MESSAGES that are roadblocks to communication.

Active Listening, Roadblocks to Communication, and Positive-Preventative-Declarative I-Messages are effective communication skills discussed during this workshop.
