Upcoming Friends (Group Sessions for Youths)
April 11 – June 20, 2025 (Fridays); 2:30pm – 4:00pm **No Session on April 18, 2025**
Friends is offered in partnership with CanLearn Society.
This small-group-based program was designed to offer a fun, sensory, and hands-on approach to supporting emotional and social skill growth and development. Youth participants will explore different skills for making friends and handling emotions.
Social-emotional learning has a positive impact on a wide range of outcomes, including academic performance, healthy relationships and mental health. Social-emotional skills are invaluable lifelong skills.
Activities and discussion topics may include:
- Building healthy friendships
- Conversation skills
- Effective communication
- Managing emotions
- Challenging unhelpful thinking
- Coping strategies
- Handling bullying and conflict
- including online bullying and online safety
- Mindfulness
- Building confidence and self-esteem
- Problem-solving
- Take-home activities to practice in between sessions
Ideal for: ages 8 – 12 years
Program focus: building social-emotional skills and strategies
Duration: 90 minutes
All sessions are offered in person at our Midnapore Family Development Centre. Registration is limited to 8 Youth Participants.
This is a signed-in, drop-off program and caregivers do not need to remain onsite.
Consent forms/proof of guardianship will be required to participate.
Please complete registration for one Adult Guardian and up to two Youth Participants (8 – 12 years).
Registration will close on April 6, 2025.
